PLEDGE CLASS T SHIRT

Design to Distribution

In Spring of 2017 I was elected to lead the design and production of my pledge class's t-shirt. I coordinated and led the design process, bringing together 29 different individuals' ideas to create a cohesive design that everyone could agree upon. Then I was in charge of communicating the design to the vendor and working with them every step of the way during the production process, determining size runs and pricing. Through this position I gained a deeper understanding of the apparel production process on multiple levels, and honed my skills in working with a vendor to bring a product from concept to reality.

SOCIAL EVENT

Dawn of the Pledge

I was elected the Vice President of Social Activities for my pledge class as well, and for this position I was tasked with the conception and planning of our pledge social event. From creating a concept to reserving a venue, I coordinated with my superiors and peers to put together a field day competition that was members vs pledges. Dawn of the Pledge had the highest attendance rate by members for a pledge social in years. Problem solving was a huge skill I gained from this position, as was working under a tight deadline with many constraints and unanticipated issues arising.

UNKNOWN FABRIC ANALYSIS

Mystery to Flocked Polyester

For Textile Science we were assigned a mystery fabric which we were to analyze and test to determine the different properties of the fabric. Through multiple lab assignments I determined this is a polyester chiffon with flocking that was colored through solution dyeing and discharge printing. This project allowed me to gain a deeper understanding of the different performance properties of fabrics, from fibers to finishes.

GRADUATION

Ceremony and Formal Reception

I went to a private high school were I took the initiative to take over the planning of our formal graduation ceremony and reception from the administration, founding the Student Event Committee. I was in charge of locating a venue, finding all the decorations, securing a caterer, sending out invitations, and procuring a guest speaker. This was an invaluable experience that taught me a lot about long term and large scale events.
